Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28th August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Mrityunjay Kumar, India (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with the Skiiling website and the Skiiling Pro web subscription (Role Prep, Practical Labs, E-Courses and Skill Plans).

Our privacy-first design

Skiiling is built to keep your data on your own device. The AI that powers Role Prep runs in your browser (on the website) or on-device (in the Mac app). Your practice answers, pasted job descriptions and generated feedback are processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers. The same is true of the E-Courses reader: the guide is rendered in your browser, and your highlights and reading position stay in your browser's local storage — we never see which pages you read. We do not require an account to use the learning content.

Information we process

  • Locally stored data: your progress, selected role, pasted job descriptions and subscription unlock flag are stored in your browser's local storage on your device. We do not receive them.
  • Payment information: when you subscribe, payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record. We do not collect or store your full card details. Lemon Squeezy shares with us limited transaction data (such as a payment ID and status) to confirm your subscription. See Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy for how they handle your data.
  • Hosting logs: our hosting provider may process standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve and secure the site.
  • Website analytics: cookie-less, aggregate counts of how the site is used. The detail is in the next section.

What we count on the website

We use Umami, a cookie-less analytics service, on the website only. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and builds no profile. A visit is grouped into a "session" by a hash Umami computes on its own server from your IP address and browser, rotated daily; we never see the IP address and cannot reverse the hash. We send no identifier of our own with it — no account (there is none), no licence key, no sync id, no device id — so there is nothing for this data to be joined to, by us or by anyone reading it.

Besides page views, we count these actions and nothing else:

  • Starting and finishing the free practice round.
  • Viewing the pricing page, starting a checkout, and a licence being activated.
  • Finishing a paid round (which of the six, never your score), finishing a lab (which role, never which lab), and finishing a guide evaluation (passed or not, never the score).
  • Creating a plan, adding it to a calendar, downloading a backup, turning on sync.
  • Reporting a problem with a question (the category you picked, never what you wrote).
  • Starting and finishing the free skill assessment (the role you picked and how many questions you answered — never an answer, never which questions you were asked, and never which skills the result found weak).

What is never sent, by construction rather than by policy: any job description you paste, any answer you write, any score on a paid round, your skill assessment result or any skill it names, your licence key, your sync recovery code, and any free text from a form. The code that sends these events accepts only short labels and numbers, so there is no way for that content to travel with them.

The Mac app is not measured at all. No analytics script is loaded there and no event leaves the app.

How we use information

We use the limited data we receive to operate the site, process and confirm subscription payments, provide support, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers who help us run the Service (for example, Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record, for payments, and our hosting provider), and where required by law.

Your progress, and optional sync

Everything you do on the Service — interview rounds, labs, guide evaluations and your plans — is recorded in your own browser and nowhere else. We have no account for you, so there is nothing for us to look up, hand over or lose. Two things never enter that record at all: your licence key and any job description you paste, so neither can reach a backup file or a synced copy. A job description you paste into Role Prep is kept in that browser until you clear it, so the round you start next can read it — on your device, never on ours.

You can download that record as a file at any time from your progress page, and restore it later on any device. Restoring merges, so an old backup cannot cost you newer work.

Sync is off unless you turn it on. If you do, your progress is encrypted in your browser with AES-GCM and uploaded as a blob filed under an anonymous identifier. Both the identifier and the key are derived in your browser from a recovery code that is generated there and never transmitted. We therefore hold ciphertext we have no key for, under an id we cannot connect to you, your email or your subscription. If you lose the recovery code, nobody, including us, can open that copy. You can delete it from the progress page at any time, and an untouched copy expires by itself after 180 days.

Data retention

Locally stored data remains on your device until you clear it. An encrypted synced copy, if you created one, is deleted when you ask or expires 180 days after its last sync, whichever comes first. Payment records are retained by us and Lemon Squeezy as required for accounting and legal purposes.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold. To make a request, contact us at info@skiiling.com. You can clear locally stored data yourself via your browser settings at any time.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date will change accordingly.
